Privacy, in plain English.
Alibi Tonight is a short party game. Guests join a room without an account. When host accounts are enabled, the person opening a room signs in. Use a nickname and avoid putting private or sensitive details in your alibi.
What a room holds
A room stores player names, chosen avatars or uploaded profile photos, game settings, alibis, votes, reactions, scores and a random player token kept in your browser. Other people with the room link can see names, avatars, alibis, reactions and results as the game unfolds. A secret role stays private until its round is revealed.
Host accounts and payments
Clerk handles host sign-up, sign-in and account details such as email. We store your Clerk user ID, display name and emoji avatar in a dedicated Neon database, plus the time of your free hosted game and the status of any Host Pass. Game records, including uploaded room photos, are also saved in Neon; photos are not added to your account profile. PayPal handles checkout and payment details. We store PayPal order and capture IDs, purchase time and refund status so we can activate the 24-hour pass and avoid duplicate credit. We do not collect or store your card number.
How the AI host works
After everyone submits an alibi, the fictional case, player names and alibi text are sent to Cloudflare Workers AI to generate a short host question. If that service is unavailable, a scripted host line keeps the game playable. AI output can be wrong or awkward; players make the final decision by voting.
How long it stays
Game rooms and their records are not automatically deleted after 24 hours. We keep player names, room photos, alibis, votes, scores and round history until a deletion request is handled. Your browser may keep a random room token locally so you can rejoin the same room; you can clear it through your browser’s site-data settings. Contact us with a room code to request room deletion, or with your account email to request account data deletion. Host entitlement and transaction IDs may need to remain for free-game limits and payment issues. Cloudflare, Clerk and PayPal may retain their own operational or transaction records under their policies. Our aggregate game logs do not include alibi text or player names.
Photos and safety
If you upload a profile photo, your browser crops and compresses it before adding it to the room and its saved game record. Anyone with the room link can see it while the room exists. Only upload an image you have the right to share. This game is meant for fictional, playful incidents among consenting friends. Do not use it to accuse or harass real people.
Contact
For deletion or privacy questions, contact jej03701@gmail.com. Include your room code if the request concerns a room, or your account email if it concerns your host account. Do not send your player token, card details or private alibi text by email.
