How to play.
Alibi Tonight is a browser party game for 3–8 friends. Play in the same room or while talking on a call. One person creates a room and sends the invite link. Everyone joins on their own phone, with a nickname and optional avatar. Guests need no account or download. When host accounts are enabled, the person opening the room signs in. When payments are enabled, the first hosted game each week is free; a $2.99 Host Pass opens unlimited rooms for 24 hours.
1. A fictional incident appears
The host opens a case: perhaps the birthday cake vanished in a blackout, or a party playlist mysteriously became whale sounds. Every player sees the same scene and three clues.
2. One person gets a secret
The game randomly assigns one player as the culprit for that case. Only that player sees the secret describing what happened. Everyone else knows they are innocent, but nobody knows who the culprit is.
3. Everyone writes an alibi
Write one or two sentences explaining where you were. The culprit tries to hide the secret. Innocent players should be convincing too, because everyone’s story will be read aloud by the group. The AI host uses the submitted alibis to ask a playful question; if AI is unavailable, a scripted prompt keeps the round moving.
4. Talk and vote
Read every alibi. Discuss the clues with your friends in person or on your call. Then each player votes for one other player. Voting is private until the reveal. The game never asks AI to decide who wins; your votes do that.
5. The reveal and score
If the culprit is the only player with the most votes, they are caught. Each innocent player who voted for the culprit gets 2 points. If the culprit avoids being the single most voted player, they get 3 points. Play one quick case or up to three cases, with a new culprit each round.
If someone steps away
The room host can continue once two alibis are in, or reveal after at least one vote. That keeps a game from freezing when a friend disconnects. Rooms and game records are kept until deletion is requested.
